Finish report 2026: matte black holds, brass is back, mixing is in

Every finish survey this year tells the same story: matte black is still the volume leader, brushed nickel remains the easy-to-live-with default, and warm metals — brushed brass, champagne, satin gold — are the growth finish. The newer development is that clients no longer want one metal everywhere. The 2026 bathroom is curated: a matte black shower door against brass lighting, or nickel hardware with a black-framed mirror.

What this means at quote time

• Stop selling a single finish per bathroom. Mixed metals are a designer signature now. Offer the contrast pairing deliberately and you sound like the expert in the room.
• Satin brass is the upsell. Warm metals read as premium against plain tile, and clients accept a finish upcharge more readily than a glass one.
• Chrome is not dead — it is coastal. Polished chrome still moves in Miami's condo stock, where it matches existing trim and tolerates salt air cleaning routines.
