The two measurements that decide everything
For a wall to glass hinge the make or break numbers are the hole centerline setback and the gap to the fixed panel. Standard fabrication uses a 2 1/8 inch hole at a 3 3/4 inch centerline from the edge for our SGH-HB series; confirm against the spec sheet of the exact hinge before the glass goes to tempering, because tempered glass does not forgive.
Leave a 3/16 inch gap at the hinge side and 1/8 inch everywhere else. On out of plumb walls, shim the hinge side and keep the gap at the strike side constant; the eye reads the strike side first.
