Weight per square foot
3/8 inch (10mm) tempered glass weighs about 4.9 pounds per square foot. 1/2 inch (12mm) weighs about 6.5. A typical 28 by 76 inch door in 3/8 runs about 72 pounds; the same door in 1/2 runs about 96.
Our SGH-HB series hinges are rated at 180 kg (396 lbs) per pair, which covers any residential door you will realistically hang. The limit you hit first is not the hinge, it is the wall anchoring: hollow walls need blocking behind the mounting points, full stop.
